CILICIA. Tarsos. Mazaios, satrap of Cilicia, 361/0-334 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.15 g, 6 h). 𐑁𐑏𐑋𐑕𐑓𐑆 ('b'ltrs' in Aramaic) Baaltars seated left on backless throne, his body turned to front, holding an eagle, a grain ear and a vine branch with a bunch of grapes in his right hand, and a long scepter in his left; to lower left, 𐑕𐑍 ('sn'); below throne, 𐑌 ('m'). Rev. π‘Œπ‘†π‘“π‘‰ ('mzdy' in Aramaic) Lion attacking bull to left; below, monogram. Casabonne series 2, Group C. SNG Levante 106 (same dies). SNG Paris -. Nicely toned and with a sharply struck reverse. Minor doubling on the obverse and with a few light deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.
